Why Would We Ever Think Bosses Want “Critical Thinkers?”
I started writing some version of this blog / blogging journey in 2013. I’m not an important blogger or even that well-read, honestly, but it’s been fun for me to see different trends around work and society and life and weigh in on them with research and links and opinions where I can. On my weakest days, I wish more people cared about the stuff I toss into the universe, but eh. That’s my own need for love and affection, I guess.
In those 10 years, one theme you constantly see referenced is “critical thinking.” Apparently we all lack it. (Gasp!) Apparently employers desperately want it. (Wah!) Apparently if you read Thinking, Fast and Slow (or at least the summary) and a few Fast Company articles, you can now selling consulting services on how to enable critical thinking. I woke up earlier than expected this morning to check that Cowboys-Bucs score (went to bed in third quarter last night), and I watched this video:
