Why Is It Always “Lesser Of Two Evils” Now?
Before we get into this, let’s say we have no idea what will happen and what will be the pairing for the 2024 Presidential election. We shouldn’t even care that much. I wish more people focused on local elections — schools, water, District Attorney, City Council, etc. Fort Worth is having some of those right now. I actually was the first person to vote downtown on Monday in early voting. Pin a rose on my nose. But the local stuff at least has some impact on your day-to-day existence. I know you might scream at me that the overturn of Roe changed everything for you, and that was because of Trump. I get it. Presidents have impact. But their impact is like a mallet once or twice across four years, which is intense — local stuff is far more relevant day-over-day. Anyway.
If you run back through some recent Presidential elections, let’s say we’ll start with 2008, because that had a “hope” candidate. So that wasn’t “lesser of two evils” per se, although I bet some people still thought it was — i.e. a black guy vs. Sarah Palin being a heartbeat from the Presidency. But after that:
