Why Hasn’t The “Companies Save Money On Real Estate” Argument Scaled WFH?

It’s complicated and it involves a lot of moving parts.

We’ve been in a nearly three-year loop/arc about the various merits and hand-wringing of different models of working:

  • Work-from-home
  • Work-in-office, or “RTO”
  • Hybrid work
  • Working on a random Japanese sub-island and telling your boss you’re at home
  • Etc, etc.

These arguments are never-ending and every few weeks, someone new weighs in via The Washington Post or The Wall Street Journal or some Twitter thread or LinkedIn and they offer a new “take” on what work-from-home would mean for:

  • Women
  • Pets
  • Children
  • Productivity
  • Downtown cores
  • Dog walkers
  • Sex robots
  • Etc, etc.

The takes are endless.

I write about a lot of different topics, from work to masculinity to relationships and social dynamics, I.e. modern friendship. Pleasure to be here.
