Where Was Luigi Mangione From Late May Until Late November, Eh?
It honestly seems like nobody really knows where Mr. Mangione was from late May (his final online post, which appears to be on Reddit) until late November, when NYPD first has him showing up at Port Authority via a bus that emanated in Atlanta. It gets incredibly confusing at points — most people seem to think he was in Asia, likely Japan, stewing in his back pain and devouring the reading of various anti-tech and anti-capitalism authors. But his mom eventually filed a missing persons report in San Francisco, because she thought he worked there for TrueCar. Thing is, he hadn’t been employed since 2023 by TrueCar, and their offices are in Malibu, not San Francisco. There was also some discussion that he was in Hawaii, but most of the Hawaii talk has since been re-centered around 2022. He appears to have lived in Hawaii for maybe 7–8 months of 2022, but not in 2024.
I suppose our best answer is probably Japan. And then he flew back to the U.S. at some point in November? OK. Japan to Atlanta I believe is a doable flight. I would assume some set of law enforcement needs to have a manifest by now showing a Tokyo to Atlanta flight with him on it. We just probably don’t know about that yet.
