What Happens To Parenting If The Legal Consequences Are Immediate?

The Jennifer Crumbley case (and soon to be the case of her husband, James) is interesting out of Michigan.

Their son shot up his high school — Oxford. Four people died. Now, in what I believe is the first trial of its nature in the United States, they are being tried for a role in what happened. I believe both of them are charged with involuntary manslaughter. I don’t know what that carries in Michigan.

This was a good case to bring, though, because all signs point to bad parenting and ignoring of facts. The kid, Ethan, was sad about a dog — so his parents bought him a gun. He was hearing voices, so they locked him out of the house. Apparently, per some testimony at the Jennifer trial already, she regularly called him an “oopsie” baby.

The whole thing is interesting, as the outcomes will be. To start, let’s look at the live blog from yesterday’s trial proceedings:
