These arguments have been going around for years, and have spawned billions of words of ink about what “The American Dream” is and who can afford it and whether it’s a shrinking window and all that. In short answer: no one knows, not many people, and yes. We have similar confusion around the term “middle class.”
Let’s take the highest-level approach possibly to “American Dream,” and therein it would be comprised of:
- Nice house
- Nice car
- Good job
- 2–3 kids
- Quality education
- 1–2 vacations per year
- Convenience of living
