Decent video here:

These arguments have been going around for years, and have spawned billions of words of ink about what “The American Dream” is and who can afford it and whether it’s a shrinking window and all that. In short answer: no one knows, not many people, and yes. We have similar confusion around the term “middle class.”

Let’s take the highest-level approach possibly to “American Dream,” and therein it would be comprised of:

  • Nice house
  • Nice car
  • Good job
  • 2–3 kids
  • Quality education
  • 1–2 vacations per year
  • Convenience of living
