Was Derek Rosa’s Motive The New Baby?

This one is a bit twisted.

Derek Rosa was 13 years old and living in the Miami-Dade area in October when he apparently went into his mother’s room with a kitchen knife and killed her, as seen on a baby-cam frame above. His case has not gone to trial yet, but there’s also now video of him admitting it to cops — and being rather calm in the process.

We don’t know a ton about this case in all honesty, but what we seem to know is:

1. This was his biological mother, but he lived with her and his stepfather.
2. The stepfather was out of town when this happened.
3. The baby in the crib was 14 days old, I.e. very newly- born.
4. After he killed his mom, he texted his gamer friend “Sweden” two pictures of his deceased mom and then another picture of him giving the “hang loose” or “Aloha” / “surf’s up” sign with blood on his hands.
5. He was apparently going to commit suicide with one of his stepfather’s guns, but didn’t.
6. He’s in custody and…
