Unplug The Christmas Machine
Near the end of 2021, Adam Grant wrote an article for The New York Times introducing the word “languishing,” and even though said article was only published about 15 days before the end of 2021, it became the most-viewed digital article for NYT that year. Why? Because that was Year II of the pandemic, and the idea of having a word for how people generally were feeling was relevant to a lot of readers. (I’d reckon.)
I just started doing some comms work at a church. In my second week there, this was the main sermon:
That sermon is about “silence and simplicity,” which are both notable things. But it’s more about “unplugging the Christmas machine.”
What does that mean?
