Somewhere on the order of 40 million people saw that on Sunday night, per Bills-Chiefs ratings (although I think the 39.3 million rating is from the fourth quarter, and the shirtless shot that launched 1M memes is from earlier in the game). At this point, Jason Kelce has one of the top podcasts in the world, one of the better-performing YouTube channels in the world, may or may not be retired, is a probable first-ballot Hall of Famer for the NFL, and may deliver a toast at Taylor Swift’s wedding. He also has three adorable daughters. Dude seems to be on top of the world. Yay. Yay! But what are the roots of our collective obsession with him? Let me try to unpack this.
