University of Idaho Murders: Jack Katovich And “The First Insider Info”
That screenshot above was maybe the first “insider theory” on 4Chan. A lot of “insider theories” are obviously made-up bullshit, but if you go through the above, a lot of it seems to be increasingly true. The biggest issue with this theory would be “If the targets were Xana and Ethan, why did the killer(s) have to go to the third floor?” The short-ish answer to that would be “Someone woke up.” This still creates confusion around Dylan and Bethany downstairs, although there’s a sliver here whereby if they called Sigma Chi people first, you might wonder if they were somehow involved in letting in those same people the night before. There’s lots of speculation about Dylan and her specific friends, none of it obviously verified openly by law enforcement.
A name that periodically comes up is Jack Katovich, probably Ethan’s friend. Some claim “best friend.” Who knows at this point? This thread sheds some brief light:
