The Sheer Comedy Of TCU’s Attempts At “Strategy”

Buzzwords, slogans, and oh … back to focusing on football.

I started working at TCU on June 27, 2022. I remember that date because it was 17 years to the day after I started working at ESPN. In some respects, both jobs were vaguely similar in that they’re “brand names” (ESPN moreso; most people outside of North Texas and California have no idea where or what TCU is, in all honesty) and both are populated by upper ranks whereby people believe themselves to be “strategic” when in fact they’re simply being “operational” or “logistical.” (This is common of most places, sadly.)

I also remember the date because I did absolutely nothing on that day, or the next day, or really any days that week. I don’t even think I went to lunch with my boss (her name was Megan). I am not sure her boss (Bill) or his boss (Tracy) even really said a word to me until about Day 6–10. Oh well.

I was gone about 90–95 days later.
