The Potential Career Pivot: I Just Finished My Google IT Support Cert With Coursera
Written before about the power of the Coursera and Grow with Google model:
Pleased to announce that I just finished my Google / Coursera IT Support Certificate this morning. It took me about 2.5 months total to complete, I’d say. They say six months but you can do it much faster.
With the advent of ChatGPT and Phillipine outsourcing and more, I have been worried about the future of copywriting for a long time. I still consider myself a good writer, but … I’ve been doing it now for 10–12 years and I’ve definitely had some low periods in terms of getting work. I would see that only continuing, so I wanted to bring in some new skills. It may not lead to anything, but it’s better than spending $50,000 for it to lead nowhere. I spent about $39/month, so to get this certificate I spent maybe $90. Not bad.
Updated my LinkedIn accordingly, too.
If you know of people needing junior-level tech/support roles, holler at me. I’ll be crafting a resume and cover letter for those roles later today.
