The Orange Juicer Is A Nice Corporate Metaphor

Simple, but elegant.

I got this idea from a Joshua Fluke video:

In it, he's on the PWC Reddit boards looking at various comments about how you shouldn’t leave work before 6pm, etc. It’s standard corporate bullshit, especially for “The Big Four.” P.S. in both 2022 and 2024, I got rejected from PWC jobs. One time, the hiring manager told me, “I saw an article you once wrote about how consultants are morons.” Personally, I’d think maybe you’d want to hire someone who sees the flaws of your model, because it would be a new perspective, but I’m also incredibly dumb for thinking that and I get it.

Anyway, in the video, Fluke uses this citrus/orange juicer analogy. Basically, as a younger employee, you are an orange: full of seeds and juice and robust and good. Then, the company comes along and juices everything out of you, mostly for themselves. When you are drained of the good innards, they push you aside and go look for another full orange.
