The Dawn Of Corporate Etiquette Classes — With The Wrong Target

I’d argue a lot of times, managers need this coursework more than employees.

If the arc of history bends towards justice, then the arc of post-COVID white-collar work bends towards a return to office, and the reasons for that are generally suspect — and by “suspect” I mean “anyone with an IQ over 52 knows that people are being brought back because managers want to be deified and also because managers cannot comprehend productivity unless someone is sitting within 15 feet of them.”

Well, now apparently one of the “benefits” (quotes needed) of RTO is that you can get etiquette classes and how to comport yourself professionally, which somewhere between 15–33% of employers are rolling out, per one survey.

This is a good idea on face, absolutely. I do think work norms changed a lot since March 2020. I actually would argue base notions of “professionalism” changed a lot since 2010, as more and more high-value companies were run by guys in sweatshirts and jeans who said “bro”…
