Seemingly, Managers Are So Desperate For Return To Office That It’s Become Geopolitical

Steven Rattner, who has done the notable and common dance between government administrations (Obama) and private equity/banks/etc., wrote a column in The New York Times yesterday about return to work, work from home, etc. The column is completely predictable even from the headline: “Is work from home really working?” You know this is a guy who has spent probably four decades in financial circles, loves the deal, loves to chop it up with other guys about the deal, etc. That stuff is likely the closest he has to fun. We all know variations of Steven Rattner.

We now just passed into Year 4 (ha!) of debates about the efficiency of remote work. It’s actually longer than that, because we had some of those debates even back in 2012, but COVID obviously really scaled those discussions into a national occupation, or at least “national” in the sense of people who write hot takes and thought leadership about business. ** sheepishly raises hand **
