Porn Analytics Are A Window Into The Soul

It seems gross to discuss, but it’s not really.

I watched a documentary years back about retired porn stars, and someone was trying to get them to justify their work, and one of them said something like “Well, I always think about maybe a guy watched a scene and it led him to perform and that created a pregnancy, or we helped people find intimacy again, or we helped people end a fight.” I don’t know if I would go out and say porn is a moral good — it’s probably the opposite — but I also think people do a lot of stuff on their laptops and phones that they wouldn’t necessarily do or inquire about in real life, so looking at porn analytics might feel gross, but it’s a window into society.

With that, I’d present the 2021 Year in Review from Pornhub (safe link). There’s a lot of good data and charts in there, including this one:

Personally I’d classify that as somewhat interesting.

On Christmas Eve 2013 (ha), I wrote a post about porn analytics at my anchor site. If you allow me the indulgence of pull-quoting myself based on that Pornhub year-end research, I’d thank you:
