Our Gender Discussions Are Too Much Of A Dichotomy

Why can’t we do this with context and nuance?

In the last few years, it seems like the prevailing narrative has been “Men are in decline,” which seems to equate to “Women are on the rise” in many minds.

That discussion feels incorrect, and too much of a binary. Obviously the reality is that every situation is different — some men are ascendant, some are in decline, some are stagnant, and it’s the same with women. It’s hard to generalize about macro-trends when it comes to men and women, because the perceptions and values and societal expectations are so different, and some of them might even be evolving. (I’m never sure how much to believe the narratives about an entire gender chasing a new model.)
