OK, But Like … Why Do We Need To Debate About Ballerina Farm And Postpartum Activities?

This is all emblematic of a decline in purpose.

If you are unfamiliar with “Ballerina Farm,” I can skirt the edges of the whole thing for you:

  • She grew up as a ballerina.
  • She married the son of the founder of JetBlue.
  • They moved to Utah and have a farm.
  • They also have eight kids.
  • She is, in many ways, the essence of Instagram motherhood.
  • Around COVID or a little before, she got very popular with sourdough kits and kitchen essentials, so she’s a brand/business now.
  • People, especially newer moms, seem obsessed with looking at her content and breathlessly commenting on it.
  • She is basically the “more wholesome” version of the Kardashians — it’s aspirational for many women (and some men), a fantasy of sorts, unattainable unless you have a $400M safety net in the form of your father-in-law, but she drives a lot of Internet discourse.

The most recent “thing” with Ballerina Farm was … she gave birth (Baby 8!) and then, days later, competed in a pageant. She looked very good. People (mostly women) went nuts online saying she “sent the wrong…
