Good post here from Greg Satell called “Self-Rightneousness Is Not A Strategy.” (Indeed, it is not.) It makes a lot of good points about the modern moment both online and sometimes in physical reality, with this sentence perhaps best summarizing the state of discourse these days:

Because our judgments are so closely intertwined with our identity, contrary views can feel like an attack.
