Madison Brooks Case: About Race? Accountability? Scapegoating? Sex? What?
Madison Brooks, often referred to in the media now as “Madi,” was a LSU sophomore this year. In January, she went out to a bar in TigerTown called “Reggie’s,” notable for underage drinking and over-serving of patrons. She got drunk, and reportedly very drunk (more in a second). She left with four dudes, three of whom were African-American. Purportedly two of the four had sex with her in the backseat of the vehicle, and there’s apparently video of her consenting to that sex. That video, which is understandably not released to the public yet, was shown in court to (I assume?) a Grand Jury. The driver of the vehicle has made statements like he “heard sex discussed five times” but also said she “probably wasn’t in her right mind.”

As for the drunken angle, the reports were that her blood alcohol level was .319, which is insanely high and bordering on death, but definitely loss of fine motor skills…
