Lindsay Clancy Trial Could Have Been A Game-Changer, But It’s Washed Now

Scroll into that photo above for a second. The two children are presently deceased, at the hands of the mother, who is paralyzed from the waist down after jumping out of a window after the murders. (A third child is also dead.) The father has since moved to NYC from Massachusetts and is generally attempting to blend into the background, despite one interview he gave to a co-worker for The New Yorker. This is the story of Lindsay Clancy.

I have written about this 3–4 times before, because it is an interesting case at the intersection of many themes. Maybe I’ll link one of them later. For now, a basic summary: In January 2023, she basically orchestrated a multi-step trip for her husband (CVS for medications, Chinese place for takeout) and killed their kids while he was gone. When this first all came out, her lawyer (a dude named Kevin Reddington, I believe) expressed a desire to “put the entire system on trial,” I.e. the system of how we treat new moms and expect them to still shoulder families and careers even if they’re at or past mental break.
