Let’s Briefly Consider Paulette Thompson In The Manhattan Shooting

Paulette Thompson was the wife of Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealth CEO essentially assassinated in Manhattan on Wednesday morning.
The overwhelming response to that murder is “It must have been done by someone who was raked over the coals by the healthcare industry.” Noted. Very logical.
Even now, apparently the shooter engraved the damn bullets with insurance industry terms:
But let’s move to the wife for a second. If you have ever watched even 2–3 episodes of Dateline or 48 Hours, you know it’s very often tied to a spouse. Over the years, I can think of 10 cases where a wife hired someone to off her husband.
Paulette here is sitting pretty life-wise. While I would highly doubt she has worked in a number of years (worked outside the home, that is), they have a nice life in Maple Grove, Minnesota and are apparently worth about $45M. There was absolutely life insurance on Brian. Anyone with a brain in their head would know that he has a controversial job, and it would be semi-easy to obscure “Oh, this was tied to a marriage” with “Oh, this was tied to someone who didn’t get coverage when they had cancer.”
It’s not a stretch.
Am I saying she’s involved? No. I am saying it’s not a stretch.
You have three breadcrumbs on Paulette:
- When the NYPD spoke yesterday, they mentioned repeatedly that they were “working with Minnesota authorities.” That could be completely harmless and mean like, they’re sending cops over to United HQ to get files. It could also mean they need to clear anything domestic.
- She was reached by NBC News pretty quickly, then ABC News later, and she gave full statements both times, including saying “I guess it was maybe about a coverage issue?” It seems weird to be able to give two full statements to the media, even if her personal…
