“Knocked Me Up Because I Got Bored”

People are shitty about talking to those “experiencing inferility.” Seems woke to say, but maybe it’s ableist?

Had an assistant pastor at my church say that to me in February 2022, as I lay in the throes of inferility. I always wonder with people and infertility like, hmm, your kids are the only thing you discuss from age 28 to 60. What if I came into your house and just removed them from you? What would you do? Would you know what to discuss or talk about or be, really? In a lot of cases, I’m not sure. And yet, people say that shit to you, or they say, “Well, infertility is a problem, but we all have problems!” (true, but, like… do you still have three kids?) or “Maybe you should do _______” (again, true, and thank you, but do you have any context for getting pregnant besides your husband drilling you for 1 minute and six seconds three years ago?)

Life is weird, and so is the beginning of life.
