Are we doomed?

I am not any type of scientist, so I can keep this relatively short. Arizona and Vermont have virtually nothing in common. They reside on opposite sides of the country. One is known for lush trees and fall foliage, and the other is mostly a desert. One is known as pretty liberal, and Arizona has been leaning right for years. Phoenix has about 90 sports teams. Vermont has none. In fact, the only things that Montpelier and Phoenix have in common is that they are both state capitals (although I bet a lot of fourth graders get that wrong on tests; Montpelier is a hard one).

Well, that was all they had in common until this week.

Here is Montpelier being flooded this week:

And here is Phoenix, in the middle of a massive string of 110-degree days:
