Idaho Four Murders: What Are The Various Theories Right Now?

Baseless Internet speculation meets human logic.

There’s been a ton of baseless Internet information (“TikTok Theories”) in this case, and I don’t want to add to any of that per se. I’m just trying to offer up some potential theories based on what we know so far. Feel free to add. Also: law enforcement is probably in over their heads, but with the FBI and others in the game too, I am sure there’s just a lot of stuff that isn’t making it to the public presently. You’ll get all that on the eventual Dateline special in 1.5 years.

Potential Theories

1. Kaylee was the target, and who was sleeping where got confusing for the killer: I’ve thought this for a second. Kaylee was an attractive young blond girl. Maybe the motive was sexual, but with Kaylee and Maddie in the same bed, that couldn’t quite happen, and with another four people in the house (two of them were also killed), maybe the initial plan became a massive butchering.
2. Ethan and Xana were the targets based on something at the frat house, and/or their timeline gaps: This is everywhere on different threads and subs. There’s some stuff about Ethan taking his sister to that frat party. Maybe something happened therein?
