Idaho 4: The Brent Lee Kopacka Angle
Until June, minus potential leaks, all we have is speculation and theories. Let’s leave the families out of it as best we can, although I’m still confused about some Dylan Mortensen stuff, to be honest.
You may remember during the case timeline, before we had a suspect, there was a SWAT shooting in Pullman and some YouTubers were saying “This must be connected.”
The guy that died in the SWAT standoff was Brent Lee Kopacka, an Army veteran.
Here’s his obituary, in which the death is tied to PTSD.
On this random Internet thread, you can find this screenshot:
Now add up two things:
- “Member of the military”
- “Did anyone else get arrested?” — first thing he apparently said to the PA cops and SWAT (unconfirmed)
If you want to bring in a third thing, it’s that the Pullman SWAT incident was mentioned by both Indiana state troopers on the pull-overs as Bryan and his dad drove back:

The extended theory here is that Kohberger wanted to kill people, but didn’t want to get caught, so he partned with Kopacka in some way and then Kopacka flipped out, threatened his roommates, and got caught in a SWAT standoff hail of gunfire, so now the entire thing is on Kohberger.
Far-fetched, but … maybe?
