How Can We Prevent Another Rowan Morey Case?

A sad one out of Michigan.

You can get most of the details in this video:

I can break it down for you, though:

• This case took place in western Michigan.
• This boy Rowan was about six, I believe.
• The woman in the thumbnail above, Brandi Morey-Pols, was his biological mom. She was divorced from the dad, a man named Michael Winchell, and had since remarried. The guy sitting next to her in that video is her current husband, I.e. Rowan’s stepdad.
• Michael (the bio dad) got his scheduled visit on, I think, a Monday.
• He had not returned Rowan by the proper time.
• This is where it gets a little confusing, because I would assume Brandi had keys or access to Michael’s house, since they shared custodial duties on Rowan. Apparently she went over there but didn’t go in.
• She tried to get an Amber Alert on Rowan, but you cannot get an Amber in Michigan on a custodial parent.
