Anne Helen Petersen is usually good for some thought-provoking stuff here and there, and this new one from her is solid in that regard:

The whole thing is good, and makes interesting points, although in the lengthy interview with a book author, this may be the best paragraph:

Sure, people may say they care about their friends, but it’s probably not in their model of success to have a life oriented around friendship — where they live right by or even with friends, maybe raise kids with friends and so on. Far more likely, the image of a successful life involves a stable job, living with a partner in privacy, maybe with some West Elm furniture and lush…
