Frankly put, a lot of stuff employees hate is stuff executives adore
This list is culled from this tweet, which purports that “Five attributes — disrespectful, noninclusive, unethical, cutthroat, and abusive — have by far the largest negative impact on how employees rate their company’s culture in Glassdoor reviews.” Makes complete sense, as no one wants to work for anyone who’s unethical, cutthroat, abusive, etc… well, wait. No one really wants to work for someone like that, but in many cases executives tend to reward this type of behavior, only they don’t always do so overtly. The worst types of executives — the ones who are probably legitimately sociopaths — are just out and out embracers of a cutthroat, abusive culture in the name of big bottom lines. These types of guys don’t even claim to put people over profits. They just bullrush ahead into smash-and-grab tactics with customers, prospects, and most of all employees.
There’s another, much larger executive class where they pretend to care about humanity, empathy, etc, etc. but in reality, all that matters is their bonus, the company’s bottom line, and their ability to showcase as someone with success and trappings. This is a common type of executive. It feels two-faced, and emotionally it is very much so, but the thing, you can’t fault them for their behavior.
