For “Average” People, The Concern Around Far-Left Issues Is Shifting Vocabulary

The far right sucks too. Extremes are bad.

I deleted Facebook sometime in late January and haven’t been back since. I probably should have done that in 2015, but it took me a while to get around to hitting that particular ball. I’m slow. What can I say?

When I was back on Facebook, probably around 2019 or so, I posted something like: “What is the point of pronouns in a work context? What is the end goal?” I am sure with the benefit of hindsight, I was doing this to vaguely “drive engagement” or have people notice me or some other ridiculous bullshit. And if I remember this long-ago post correctly, I believe it got 15–20 comments. One of them stood out. Rather than answering the question (as other commentors did), an affluent mom who lives near me responded:

“Google it, you fat fuck.”

Indeed. And honestly, when I Googled it? I didn’t learn much. Some vague references to “inclusion” and “support” and “allyship,” with those terms subsequently not really defined.

I write about a lot of different topics, from work to masculinity to relationships and social dynamics, I.e. modern friendship. Pleasure to be here.
