Do We Need To Evolve Laws And Policing Around Modern Marriage?

Here’s a case out of Florida that would maybe point in that direction.

Bree Kuhn was a Naval officer living in Florida in 2021. She had one daughter, 12, by a previous relationship and then two kids with her current husband, a guy named Collin Turner. Turner had also been in the Navy, or at least some branch of the military, but he had received a discharge related to a traumatic brain injury and was essentially now a stay-at-home dad for the two kids they shared. Kuhn, for her part, had attempted suicide at least once and possibly upwards of three times in the year prior to September 2021. This is with a four-year-old and a three-year-old.

On one day in September ’21, the cops were called to this house three times for different domestic disputes. They showed up three different times. (I believe it was different cops on some of the visits.) Eventually, Collin got locked in the garage by his wife, and called 911 again — at which point, on the actual 911 call, you can hear her come into the garage and shoot (killing) him. All of the body-cam and 911 and stuff is on this video:

I write about a lot of different topics, from work to masculinity to relationships and social dynamics, I.e. modern friendship. Pleasure to be here.
