“All Trump Voters Are Racist” Lacks Nuance, And Benefits The GOP
Trump is essentially an aggrieved bully in many ways, and because he has a background in television and working the media over, he knows how to play that to get more and more attention. Remember when CNN just televised a friggin’ chair for 37 minutes in hopes that he’d show up and pop their ratings? It’s a true debacle, and it’s consumed most of the body politic for about a decade now, which is stunning to even write.
The easiest way to “end” Trump would be to just ignore him. Don’t cover him in the media. Let the trials play out behind closed doors. Just pretend he doesn’t exist. That’s usually the best way to deal with bullies and aggrieved men. Believe me — I can definitely play the latter, and most people ignore me when I get into that mindset.
Obviously, that’s not the reality. The media can’t ignore a former President who is still the bellwether of his party. They can’t ignore all the indictments. So we keep hearing about him, which gives him more strength and context for people.
