Adlai Mestre Killed His Whole Family, Then Kool-Aid Man’ed The Police
I am not sure this link will work for you, as you may need to log into the New Mexico court records system yourself beforehand, but that’s a link to the progress of the Adlai Mestre case. He killed his entire family — according to one report, he also killed the dogs and (checks notes) “used a meat tenderizer on some members of the family” — and when the cops showed up, he told them that “They were dead, but they had come back.” At that point, one of the cops radios out for more people, essentially saying, “We can’t deal with this shit ourselves.”
There is video of Mestre’s arrest, but Mestre himself went viral for kicking a giant hole in the plaster of the interrogation room and attempting to flee. He was caught. It’s pretty crazy. As someone who has watched a bunch of true crime and body cam, I would recommend this one if you need a little diversion from other bullshit in life.
The last thing that happened in Mestre’s case as of me writing this was 11 or so days ago, when elements of the forensic report (logically the bodies of his family members) were sealed.
This seems like a very clear-cut mental health case, but it might come to trial somehow in 2025 or 2026. We will see.
